Newport Harbor is just a delightful spot and one of our favorites on the way (yes, the long way) from San Diego to Avalon. This harbor is very large with many options for docking, mooring or anchoring. As a Yacht Club reciprocal, we enjoy the hospitality offered by Balboa Yacht Club. They offer slips when available as well as mooring balls that are serviced by a BYC shore boat until something like 9pm during the summer months. Newport is an easy ride from Dana Point and it makes for a great launching off point when headed to Avalon or Two Harbors. The entrance is easy to navigate and it is well marked. |
